As we embark up Black History Month with its key theme: Standing Firm in Power and Pride; Tuntum Housing reflects on the role of its founders, a group of community activists from Nottingham’s Black community who came together in 1988. Their mission was to address inequalities in housing provision and create economic opportunities, particularly for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in Nottingham.
Today the communities we serve are ethnically diverse, and we are proud to be a community anchor organisation that promotes inclusivity and community cohesion for all groups.
At our recent AGM, Reverend Clive Foster MBE , Windrush Commissioner stated that “Tuntum’s story is Windrush’s story.” Throughout Black History month we celebrate all those who have shown resilience through strength and commitment to progress; all those that demonstrate that Black History is British History.
